Our Mission is to grow our powerful platform for independent filmmakers and promote innovative storytelling, while enriching the cultural landscape of community.
Our vision is to be the premier festival that nutures talent, engages audiences, and cultivates a love for film within the Kansas City community.
We need you to help with our mission for brands to connect with both global and local community in KC to our talented group of over 18k film makers that have been submitting and attending our events for the last 18 years. We doubled our number of submission last year from 1500 to over 3k.

History of the Festival
Founded in 2007 in Kansas City, Missouri, the Universal Film Festival has grown into an internationally recognized event, attracting filmmakers and audiences from over 130 countries. With over 3000 submissions annually, the festival features 40 screenings over three days in a historic downtown theater making it a key platform for emerging talent. The festival works to spotlight local artists. Committed to supporting independent filmmakers, the Universal Film Festival offers career-changing networking opportunities and exposure to global audiences.
